Bird -& other Wildlife :
By 23.05.06 the bird hit list for the Skjern Å Valley identified some 248 species. Many red-listed birds breed here; Bittern, Black-necked Grebe, Spoonbill, Avocet and Little Ringed Plover, and others. For staging and over wintering, birds such as Bewick’s and Whooper Swans, geese and ducks mark this area out for its international importance. The otter lives here; the unique Skjern Å Salmon can be fished here. The rare Floating Water Plantain (Luronium natans) is found here.

IBA Important Birds: Spoonbill, Bewick’s Swan, Marsh Harrier, Corn Crake, Dotterel and Ruff.
