Blåvandshuk, Ho Bugt & Skallingen

Blåvandshuk is the most westerly point of Denmark. The region is actually the northern end of the Wadden Sea and the last stretch of land before the North Sea. The Wadden Sea ends by Ho Bay near the mouth of Varde Å river. As a peninsula to the south-east of Blåvandshuk lies Skallingen, bordered by the North Sea to the West and Ho Bay to the east. Langli is a small island in the centre of Ho Bay.

The countryside of the area is very varied and an important resting place for a very large
number of migratory birds. The region features a range of different landscapes, which provide an excellent impression of the unique countryside and eco-systems of both West
Jutland and the Wadden Sea. The flatlands and deeps around Skallingen and Langli constitute the principal landscape elements of the Grådyb tidal region. The tides greatly influence the distinctive features of the landscape and provide sustenance for the local wildlife.
