Birding Hotspots

Where to see the birds:

1. From the south pier, there is a fine view
   out over the Helms Odde nature reserve.
   Wading birds, geese and seabirds come
   here to rest all year round.
   
2. Stormengene Nature Reserve. There are
   birds to be seen here most of the year
   breeding, resting and eating in large flocks.
   
3. The Juvre Enge area is a good place to see
   meadow birds. From the vantage points on
   the dike, there is a good view over the
   Wadden Sea.
   
4. By Lakolk Lake, you have a good chance
   of hearing the call of the bittern. In the
   late summer, starlings gather in the reeds,
   while there are geese on the lake for most
   of the year.
   
5. Sønderstrand. Even in the late winter
   months, you can see the first migratory
   birds of the year on the beach.
