July - August

July
High summer is not as exciting to go  bird-watching in West Jutland as spring. Many of the interesting birds are migratting north staying during the summer up in Svalbard.

Still there are many birds to watch along the coast of West Jutland. From mid july the first birds start migrating south from their breeding areas up north. From this period on you can especially see migrating wading brids. In Skjern Enge for instance almost all species of wading
birds can be observed. The most numerous species are the lapwing, the golden plover and the dunlin. You may also see the ruff when they return from the breeding grounds. At this time they will have lost their “collars”.

The greylag geese can be seen from July to August on the newly harvested fields that line
the roads around area of Vest Stadil Fjord.
