1. The Tønder marshes – Stretches along the Wadden Sea coast in the
South-West part of Jutland. In winter, home to the largest populations in Denmark of buzzard, rough-legged buzzard, hen harrier, pink-footed goose, whooper and bewick's swan, while shore lark and snow bunting can be seen along the coast. In spring and autumn, tens of thousands of geese and ducks arrive. The species on view include barnacle and white-fronted geese, teal, pintail and common shelduck.
2. Rømø – An island in the Wadden Sea. Best from April to May, and in
September and October. Good spots for observing giant flocks of migratory birds. Flocks of up to 100,000 dunlin. Also Golden plover, fieldfare, godwits, curlew and ruff. Remarkable numbers of ducks and geese spend the winter on the island.
3. Mandø by Ribe – In winter, large flocks of whooper and bewick's swan. In
spring and autumn, migrating flocks of geese, ducks and swans. The turnstone is also a common sight on the island of Mandø along with peregrine falcon, cormorant and eider duck. Breeding area for redshank, lapwing and avocet.
4. Sneum Sluse by Esbjerg – Thousands of ducks flock here in the migration
seasons and in the winter. It is also a resting place for many wading birds at high tide. As the tide rises, waves of herons, lapwings, sandpipers, curlews and black-tailed godwits come flying in over the dike to land on the lake.
5. Fanø – Thousands of wading birds, ducks, geese and gulls use the mud
flats at low tide. The southern tip of Fanø is a wonderful place for observing small migratory species. Common sights here include the redstart, blackcap, willow warbler, goldcrest and robin – species that often migrate in huge flocks. As October progresses, redwing and fieldfare are to be found in almost all bushes. The Kentish plover breeds only in the Wadden Sea and is only seen on Fanø and Rømø. Denmark to view migratory birds. From the end of summer to the winter months, both seabirds and terrestrial birds pass by here in very large numbers. In September and October, Blåvandshuk is an important place for migratory birds of prey, ducks, geese and small birds. It is the best place in Denmark for migratory meadow pipits, which visit in numbers of up to 100,000. You may see as many as 50,000 common scoters resting off the coast. 6. Blåvandshuk – In autumn, Blåvandshuk is one of the best places in
